[Solved] Firmware upgrade encountered an issue / Odin complete(write) operation failed Samsung Galaxy

So, you follow these instructions on updating/upgrading are your Samsung galaxy to a new official firmware, like these here Upgrading the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus to Ice Cream Sandwich
and click 'Start' on Odin3. All seems to progress well and then Odin3 goes RED, FAIL!! and is stuck!

Odin! Complete(write) operation failed!!

You reboot your galaxy only for it to hang on "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue".

Well, I have been there and for hours! Here is what i did.

WARNING!! I am not responsible for any damage to your galaxy if this process fails

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 Firmware upgrade encountered an issue

Action: You need to recover to stock ROM

Requirements
1. Odin3
2. N8000_StockRecovery.tar ROM file (i downloaded this from http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyNote10.1/recovery)

Steps
  • Download N8000_StockRecovery.tar ROM file for Galaxy N8000 to your computer
  • Download ODIN3 v1.85 or latest ODIN3
  • Start Odin and click on PDA. Now select the stock ROM StockRecovery.tar
  • Switch off Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and boot in Download Mode (Press the Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously). Now connect the Galaxy to PC
  • Once Odin detects Galaxy Tablet, it will display a COM number inside a glowing yellow rectangle box. Make sure ONLY Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are checked.
  • Click Start and wait for Odin to install. The tablet will automatically reboot once complete
Congratulations... your Samsung Galaxy Tab is now recovered to stock ROM

Notes:
  1. I have only tried this on Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000
  2. My tablet previously had a CHN Stock ROM. This restored it to full US language.
  3. Google services, including Play which previously where not working were restored by this process
